Plots

V6

[Opening — close, conversational] Some stories do not begin when they begin. They begin when you stop and think: Wait. Why did that feel familiar? [Chapter One — dry pulse] A book is a peculiar thing. Paper. Ink. A voice with no body in the room. And somewhere between two sentences a door appears. No handle. No instruction. Still, you notice it. Sometimes meaning is not inside the words. It happens between the words and you. [Refrain — restrained, melodic] Plots. Not maps. Not orders. Not fate. Only doors left slightly open in the mind. You may pass them. You may forget them. Or years later find one still waiting inside. [Chapter Two — strange groove] Stories offer other lives. Someone leaves. Someone stays. Someone forgives what should have ended everything. Someone refuses. Someone walks through a door we never saw. And suddenly the question is not: What happens to them? It is: What would happen to me? [Interlude] That is dangerous. Naturally, we continue. [Chapter Three — hypnotic] We borrow without stealing. A gesture. A sentence. A refusal. A way of standing in a room. Never the whole life. Only one possibility we had not allowed before. Sometimes that changes the next decision by one degree. One degree is very little. Until the road becomes long. [Refrain — altered] Plots. Not answers. Not laws. Small rehearsals for lives we may never live. A thought can wait between the lines for years before becoming our own. By then, who owns it hardly matters. [Film Reel — sparse] Cinema is less patient. A book says: Here is a room. Imagine it. A film says: No. The room looks like this. Here is the face. Here is the weather. But sometimes it arrives too late. The corridor already exists. The voice already exists. The silence has already been cast. No director can compete with a film that never needed a camera. [Final Chapter — widening] The best stories do not tell us how to live. They leave something unfinished. A choice. A doubt. A question that refuses to fit inside its answer. They let us see from somewhere we have never stood before. Not: Do this. Only: Look. A life could also turn this way. [Final Refrain — wide, luminous] Plots. Thousands of them. Lives rehearsed without being lived. Doors opened without obligation. We take almost nothing. A movement. A doubt. A little courage. A different angle of light. Then the book closes. The screen goes dark. The room becomes ordinary again. Almost. Because somewhere between their story and ours, a possibility has survived. And one day we may step into it. [Outro — very close] Some stories end. Some do not. The dangerous ones continue until one day we call them our life.
