Beyond the Breakwater-(Lo fi)-b

Harbor lights behind us fading slow Silver rails and ocean glow No more walls of the marina nights Open water calling white and wide Wind in our jackets Salt on our skin Somewhere beyond the breakwater Everything begins We sail out past the sleeping bay Champagne stars above the waves Music drifting over blue midnight Everybody laughing into the tide Hands in the air No maps tonight Only the rhythm of the engine And the moonlight Freedom turning in the propeller wake Warm horizon we were born to chase Golden bottles rolling near our feet Heartbeat mixing with the summer beat City towers fading into haze Tiny diamonds at the edge of space Now the dark becomes a velvet road And every breath lets go another load Cool wind through the speakers Hair blown wild Someone starts dancing barefoot Like a child White linen fluttering in the night Soft blue lasers cutting through the sky A slow guitar somewhere behind the drums Like California floating over us No destination No need to explain The whole dark ocean opening Like our names in rain Far from the harbor Far from the shore We are finally larger Than we were before Ice melting softly in crystal glass Constellations spinning from the mast Every wave reflects another dream Nothing here is smaller than it seems We drift farther where the water turns black No thought of ever looking back Only the pulse of the stereo glow And the endless current below Somebody whispers “This is the life” And for a second They are perfectly right Neon cigarettes and quiet smiles Dancing shadows stretching for miles Warm brass chords and tropical air Midnight freedom everywhere The sea keeps breathing underneath Slow and deep and endlessly Holding us outside of time Outside the city lines Morning slowly painting pink and gold Endless water shining calm below Still dancing as the sunlight floods the deck Beautiful and reckless and correct Coffee steaming in the salty breeze Bare feet crossing polished teak We watch the gulls return alone While we keep moving farther from home No schedule waiting No ground below Only the wide blue silence And the undertow Engines humming low and clean Like a half-forgotten dream The coastline now a distant thread The future opening ahead Hands on the railing Eyes on the dawn Laughing like nothing fragile Could ever go wrong And somewhere beyond the shining waves Beyond the maps and crowded days A freer version of ourselves appears And disappears into the atmosphere Harbor lights long gone from view Only the endless silver-blue Music, ocean, sky, and heat All moving in the same heartbeat
