[Verse 1] I waited at the shallow end With water at my knees Everything kept circling nicely Then vanished underneath A little current caught my feet And tugged me toward the black I watched it turn around the middle Then took a little step back [Pre-Chorus] Round and round Down it goes Where it ends Nobody knows Watch the water Dip and spin I wonder what they're keeping in [Chorus] Down, down, down it goes Past the place the blue can show Round, round, round again Like the pool forgot its end Something underneath is calling But I don't think I'll dive I'll just sit here by the water And watch the whole thing spiral by [Verse 2] A pink flamingo drifted over Turning slowly on its side I nudged it toward the middle Just to see if it would ride It circled once around the darkness Then it circled twice I pulled it back before it vanished I think it likes it here just fine [Pre-Chorus] Round and round Down it goes Where it ends Nobody knows Watch the water Dip and spin There's an awful lot going in [Chorus] Down, down, down it goes Past the place the blue can show Round, round, round again Like the pool forgot its end Something underneath is calling But I don't think I'll dive I'll just sit here by the water And watch the whole thing spiral by [Instrumental Break - Mischievous Violin and Glockenspiel] [Verse 3] There's a yellow duck inflatable Stranded farther down the hall I set it floating toward the current Just to watch it bob and stall The ceiling lights keep shining Though the bottom disappeared For a place that looks so ominous It's really rather nice in here [Bridge] Someone should put up a railing Maybe paint a warning sign "Bottomless beyond this point" Would probably work just fine Still the water keeps on turning Still the little fountains play If there's something past the bottom It can wait another day [Instrumental Break - Playful Glockenspiel, Expressive Violin Solo] [Final Chorus] Down, down, down it goes Past the place the blue can show Round, round, round again Like the pool forgot its end Something underneath is calling But I don't think I'll dive I'll just sit here with the flamingo And watch the whole thing spiral by [Outro] Round and round Down below Where it ends I still don't know [Violin and Glockenspiel Outro]
