'Twas The Night Before Christmas

'T was the night before Christmas and all through the home, there was excitement and laughter, and chats on the phone, then a knock at the door and Jesus was there and they gave Him refreshment and found Him a chair. He sat and the children surrounded Him, they. The man who'd been that baby that lay in the hay, and told He them stories, their eyes shone with glee, and the little ones scrambled to sit at His knee. Then, leaving, He went to another home next door, where found He a young child curled up on the floor. Her parents out drinking and scoring their drugs, that poor alone child, He picked up and hugged. Her loneliness saddening, she clung to Him tight, thus He chose not to leave her as He went on that night. Her soul he took with Him, His love she could see, to His Father in Heaven, forever to be. Coming home, both parents thought their daughter asleep, and fell into slumbers so drunkenly deep. In the morning, with shock, they found her cold in her cot, the babe they had left alone and totally forgot. Yet, though gone from them and alone no more, that child was welcomed through Heaven's door, and Jesus Himself had taken her there to be with His Father and the angels so fair.
