Verse 1 I was running through the shadows Trying to outrun my shame Building walls of self-righteousness Still drowning in my blame I thought I had to earn it Prove that I was good But the Law just showed my weakness I never understood (Romans 3:20 – “Through the law comes knowledge of sin.”) Verse 2 Every rule I tried to follow Still left me incomplete Perfection stood before me But I fell at Your feet If salvation depended on me I’d be lost without a sound But mercy wrote a different story When Your grace came crashing down (Ephesians 2:8-9 – “By grace you have been saved…”) Pre-Chorus You didn’t wait for me to fix myself You didn’t ask me to pretend You met me in my brokenness And called me Your friend Chorus You chased me down When I ran away Your love was louder Than my fear and shame You carried the cross So I could be free Jesus, my righteousness Is found in Thee I’m not saved by what I do But by what You’ve done Now I rest in the finished work Of God’s own Son Verse 3 The Law revealed my failure But grace revealed Your heart You fulfilled what I could never Right from the start Now I stand in holy freedom Not because I’m strong But because the Lamb was worthy All along (2 Corinthians 5:21 – “He became sin for us…”) (Matthew 5:17 – “I did not come to abolish the Law but to fulfill it.”) Bridge (Build this big, Bethel-style) It is finished It is done The battle won By the Son No more striving No more fear Your perfect love Has drawn me near You are my rest ( Matthew 11:28 ) You are my peace ( Romans 5:1 ) You are my righteousness Forever my release 🎙️ Spoken Encouragement (after bridge, music soft pads + piano) I used to think God was disappointed in me. Like I had to measure up. But the truth is… If righteousness depended on me, I would never make it. The Law shows us we can’t save ourselves. That’s why Jesus came. He didn’t come to improve you. He came to rescue you. He fulfilled the Law perfectly. He carried your sin completely. He finished the work eternally. So when He says, “Come to Me, all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28)… He means it. You don’t have to run anymore. You don’t have to perform anymore. You don’t have to pretend anymore. Your salvation doesn’t depend on your perfection. It depends on His finished cross. Rest in Him. He is your righteousness. Final Chorus (Soft → Explosive) You chased me down You wouldn’t let me go Grace rewrote The story I thought I knew I was running But You stayed Now I’m resting In the price You paid Jesus My righteousness My rest My salvation All because of the cross.
