Resting on the Road (Mighty Fine Version)

ive walked this road before , seen so many places, never staying in one place for to long, I ve done side gigs ,sang a few songs, just for a little cash to move on, ive never really been committed to any certain situations other then my old dog, who travels these long dusty roads by my side, lately I've been thinking, I might be high time, for me to find a spot to rest my weary bones, maybe a place by a lake, where I can do some fishing, and my old dog can have a place to roam, Because ive been on the road for so long, I'm longing to have a home, I got it in my mind, finding a small town, where the folks are all known, where there's one shopping store and a quick deli mart, and main street, is where the only bar in town is known a place where folks are kind, and no one minds, if your sleeping on the front porch, where the fish are jumping at dinner time, and the towns mayor and sheriff are old hoots, laughing it up with the boys, a place where I will fit in, tipping my hat at the pretty girls, as they walk by, yeah I got it in my mind, a place like that sounds mighty fine, ive been down this old road so many times , its time for me to find some rest and peace , if not this town maybe the next one, I'll know when I pull in, it could be anyplace from here on out a nice little home for me and my old dog, thinking that sounds mighty fine
