You took my soul, sucked me dry of existence, left me bruised and battered. My psyche was gone, I was but a shadow, but none of that mattered. You needed the power, you needed the payback, and through it all, I was the scapegoat. 'Twas not I that did you wrong, the damage was engraved long before me, by another with the power to choate. Not that she intended, t'was a circumstance, a sadness of an era and a time. You were abandoned, deserted, left derelict, she did not mean to be unkind. The years have passed I left you long ago, worked through my issues, oh so many of my own. Yet I made it through, and now I pray for you, that you'll find peace before you make that journey home. Forgiveness is all I have, and it has set me free, I'm no longer victim to the violence of the past. In my heart of hearts, I thank the Lord above, for His grace that gave me peace, at last.
