[Verse 1] I read the morning news Like it might read me Faces on the trains Look half-asleep to me The season changed again But nobody looked up Still, the air feels charged Like a cup too full [Pre-Chorus] And I hear it under all the noise A low yes, a holy shake The ground is holding something in The kind of silence that can wake [Chorus] The earth is stirring The earth is stirring Something in the dark Is turning toward the dawn The earth is stirring The earth is stirring And every trembling step Says the wait won’t stay long [Verse 2] Rumors in the wire Rattle through the town Hands keep on scrolling As the hours slide down Children ask the sky Why the birds keep circling I say, "Stay awake" There's more than meets the eye [Pre-Chorus] And I hear it under all the noise A low yes, a holy shake The ground is holding something in The kind of silence that can wake [Chorus] The earth is stirring The earth is stirring Something in the dark Is turning toward the dawn The earth is stirring The earth is stirring And every trembling step Says the wait won’t stay long [Bridge] If this is labor Then the birth is close If this is mourning Then hope still grows You promised morning So I will not fear The night is bending The King is near [Final Chorus] The earth is stirring The earth is stirring Something in the dark Is turning toward the dawn The earth is stirring The earth is stirring And every trembling step Says the wait won’t stay long The earth is stirring The earth is stirring I lift my eyes and know The promised light is coming on
