She sat down in the theatre, On vacation for a week, Her home was many states away But it’s Jesus she did seek As she settled in to watch The “Miracle of Christmas day” We started a conversation Before the beginning of the play She shared about the Christmas cards She mails out every year She said the best gifts she received Were friendships that were dear I thought about my favorite gift It was my husband who I missed He had proposed on Christmas Eve And yet now has passed away His second Christmas, coming soon, He’s up there in his special room, In Heaven’s glory; yet here I stay, Sitting at this Christmas play. And here this woman on her own She also looked to be alone I wondered what her story was As she counted blessings just because I gave her a bottled water Just because I felt I ought to She said thanks, began to share About another blessing there She told me how a man had paid For her meal, she was amazed Her eyes shone bright and then she said “Jesus comes in different ways.” Oh when we give and when we love, And when we show we care, As sons and daughters of the King, To those around us everywhere. We are the salt we are the light, To everyone we meet. The smallest ways can give Him praise, As Jesus’ hands and feet. And after we said our goodbyes She looked directly in our eyes Without a word she smiled to say: The simple truth as we discussed, Emmanuel is God with us. The miracle of Jesus Christmas day. And He’s still doing miracles in so many different ways. Oh yes, He’s still doing miracles in so many different ways.
