Mad --- Tamicus (Wraith's Halloween Remix Challenge)
[verse 1] In the dead of night In the laboratory tower Glowed a warm light As the air bristled with power Dr. Linus von Schmenkelhoffen And his buxom assistant, Dottie, Worked feverishly over what Appeared to be a lifeless body [verse 2] Thunder rolled low Outside the tower window Rain began to fall And the wind began to blow “The storm approaches!” They cried to each other And scurried and scuttled Like a couple of roaches [chorus] They’ll say we’re mad But we haven’t done anything bad! We found him just laying around It’s not like we dug him from the ground (Well, didn’t really dig…..he wasn’t that deep) I mean, it’s not like we disturbed his sleep (At least his head wasn’t sleeping!) They may call us mad But we haven’t done anything bad! Just sewed his head back on tight And added some electrodes to his neck We’re trying to make him right! Just a little lightning Just a little shock And up he’ll jump And Death we will mock! [music fades to just percussion and bass | comedic banter follows] [spoken banter female] We’re really gonna mock death? [spoken Male] Well, yeah, you know…. [spoken Female] Is this something we discussed? [spoken Male] It kind of goes without saying…. [full music returns] [verse 3] Dr. Linus flips a switch While Dottie presses the button And the slab on which the body rests Begins to rise all of a sudden! Moving up toward the Tesla arcs Spraying sparks in the laboratory air, The table continues to rise To the fate that waits up there! “Rise!” Dr. von Schmenkelhoffen shouts, Raging excitement in his voice! And Dottie begins to wonder If this was her best choice…… [chorus] They’ll say we’re mad But we haven’t done anything bad! [music fades to just percussion and bass | comedic banter follows] [spoken banter Female] A ‘little’ lightning?! You’re placing him directly into electricity, Dr. S! [spoken Male] Okay, well, yes, maybe, but…… [spoken Female] And what happens if he jumps up while he’s on that slab twenty-five feet in the air? [spoken Male] No, the slab will come down first, Dottie! Jeez! [female speaking under her breath] Yeah, right. You’re going to kill him again! [bridge sung by female] Lightening crashes, arcs, and sparks! The Teslas do their thing! A blinding light, a bolt of electricity Passes through the electrodes to begin (Did his neck get singed?!) And the table makes its descent…… [verse 4] Dr. Linus dances with glee! His eyes are shiny and wide! And as the table settles to the floor He meets it in one long stride! Dottie grabs the doctor’s coat And peeks slowly over his shoulder At the body on the slab And the neck that’s begun to smolder! There’s a sudden silence A breath of anticipation….. Then the body begins to sit up, Eyes blinking with recognition! [verse 5] “It’s ALIVE” screams Dr. S, His voice echoing across the room And Dottie screams and faints And falls into a swoon! The body on the table Stands up tall, looking mean, And in his deep dark voice says, [silent beat for dramatic pause] [deep, bass monster voice] "Happy Halloween!” [final chorus] They’ll say we’re mad! But we haven’t done anything bad! We found him just laying around It’s not like we dug him from the ground (Well, didn’t really dig…..he wasn’t that deep) I mean, it’s not like we disturbed his sleep (At least his head wasn’t sleeping!) They may call us mad, But we haven’t done anything bad! Just sewed his head back on tight And added some electrodes to his neck We’ve succeeded in making him right! Just a little lightning and just a little shock And up he jumped! Oh, look! Now he’s dancing! “Goodbye to Death” he sings as he’s prancing! As Dr. Linus von Schmenkelhoffen begins to preen He joins Dottie and the monster in wishing you all: [doctor, Dottie, and monster all sing together happily] A Happy Halloween! [brief electric guitar and harpsichord riff to out]
