The Hand Off They call us the human race Some realize it's a relay Others think of it as a solo run That thinking is only for today Some families think in generations Building security over the years One generation hands off the spoils As the next generation cheers Eventually you will know what to do It's really not up to you Most are just thinking of only today As the next generation falls behind Some power-launch their children And say they will be just fine As a child, you do not control Which way that will go You can choose to change that generational path Anyone can do it, even the average Joe So I did not get that hand-off But I did get a fine start Grew up in a nice town And a good school that helped a lot Eventually you will know what to do It's really not up to you If you were lucky to have generational wealth Will you use it all and leave none for the next? Or will you help build it for the future And keep up the generational effect? Will you be the first to get the ball rolling? That means you need to build wealth Don't spend it all on the next best thing And take care of your health You also need to make sure You raise your children right It only works if they believe in family If not, you are sacrificing only for their delight So time tells if they care And if they will be there for you That is when you decide what path is right You will know what to do It's really not up to you But you already knew You already knew
