The DeeKays - Give Me My Waffle House

+ Show full styles

Sunrise bleeds through the diesel haze, I’ve been dead inside for seven days. Caffeine shakes and the smell of sin, I need that neon cross to drag me in. Smothered, covered, scattered pain, Graveyard shift cooks call my name. They serve salvation by the plate, Grease is God and death can wait! Give me my Waffle House! The syrup’s black, the eggs are vile! Give me my Waffle House! I’ll die happy with a cursed smile! When the night burns out and the reaper dines, Pour my soul in a side of grits and shine! The waitress laughs with a toothless grin, Says, “Hell’s full, but we’ll squeeze you in.” Coffee thick as swamp-born tar, Jukebox croaks out a doomed guitar. Demons eat hash browns with the dead, Blood-red jelly on cornbread. If heaven’s closed, I’ll take this booth, Where chaos fries in honest truth. Give me my Waffle House! Where sinners chew and angels cry! Give me my Waffle House! Let me rot ‘neath the flicker sign! If death’s the bill, I’ll pay it proud, Just feed me slow beneath the crowd! Scattered bones, covered in grease, Smothered souls that never find peace. A graveyard special, side of dread, Refill my coffee till I’m undead! Give me my Waffle House! The end’s been served since ‘55! Give me my Waffle House! Where the damned keep breakfast alive! When the world goes dark and the lights burn out, I’ll still be screaming from the parking lot… “GIVE! ME! MY! WAFFLE! HOUSE!”
