*** Original by Kwame (@garthmiller73) *** *** Remastered Remix by Govannon: https://suno.com/s/hul8Jp1ebV2yr10y *** [Intro] Kingston... The street wrote it first. We only give it sound. [Verse 1] Morning sun beating on the zinc roof red, Mama at the market keeping children fed. Route taxi cutting through the heat and smoke, Every man working, every woman holding hope. Cross Roads behind me, Half-Way Tree ahead, Kingston keeps moving when the daylight spreads. Preacher has a message, vendor has a price, Everybody searching for a better piece of life. Small room Big sound. Hard ground Stand proud. When the road says stop, we find one more door. Kingston takes pressure and turns it into more. [Pre-Chorus] Church bell ringing Bass box answering Revival drum moving Whole lane gathering Zion in the spirit, fire in the grammar Kingston feels the weight then answers with the hammer. [Chorus] This is Kingston testament, written in bass Jah above the soul, low end under the waist From the market to the lane, let the heavy load lift When the riddim touches road, feel the whole island shift. Kingston! Crown upon concrete Kingston! Make the hard breathe Babylon watching, but we nah bow yet This is Kingston Kingston testament. [Breakdown] Hold it... Hold the riddim... Not yet. [Verse 2] From downtown lane to the hills uptown, Same city breathing when the sun goes down. Dubplate turning and the speaker cone hot, Every corner carries what the headline forgot. Sunday white shirt, Monday dust on shoe, Bible in one hand, speaker wire running through. Some call Jesus, some say Jah guide; Every soul searching for some light inside. We buss the speaker, make the whole box shake. One clean riddim, make the false sound break. Three-three-two in the foot and chest Kingston knows pressure. Kingston knows strength. No silver spoon, still the pot gets stirred. No grand stage, still the whole world heard. Build from the little, make the little stand tall One sound rises when the heavy bass calls. [Second Pre-Chorus] Church bell ringing Bass box answering Every wire shaking Every wall trembling Zion in the spirit, fire in the grammar Kingston takes the pressure then answers with the hammer. [Second Chorus] This is Kingston testament, written in bass Jah above the soul, low end under the waist From the market to the lane, let the heavy load lift When the riddim touches road, feel the whole island shift. Kingston! Crown upon concrete Kingston! Make the hard road sweet Babylon watching, but we nah bow yet This is Kingston Kingston testament. [Sound-Clash Bridge] Kingston testament Kingston Kingston Bassline bear witness! [Outro] No palace taught us how to reign. We built this crown from heat and strain. Kingston testament...
