[Verse] I saw him on that lonesome street A yellow dog with a heart of gold (oh yeah) He howled all night And he cried all day The poor yeller dawg His time's running away [Verse 2] With weary eyes He looked so tired His fur all ragged His spirit so bleak (ooh-yeah) He wandered alone Through the pouring rain The poor yeller dawg's lost in his pain [Chorus] Oh Lord Won't you hear my plea? (hear my plea) Bring some peace to this poor yeller dawg for me (for me) He's howlin' for mercy Oh can't you see? (can't you see) The poor yeller dawg A soul so wild and free
