[Verse] Before the dawn when stars would hum In darkest depths where time was young A spark of will in a silent land The ancestor rose and took a stand [Verse 2] The ground was cold the sky was wide The pulse of earth beat deep inside With trembling limbs they made their claim A fragile step a roaring flame [Chorus] One step forward one world turned A spark of life the fire burned From caves of stone to skies above The first step was born of love [Verse 3] The trees would whisper the rivers sing Of daring hearts and ancient things The moon bore witness the stars would weep As mankind woke from endless sleep [Verse 4] A world of hunger a world of pain Yet every step would break the chain A fragile hope in trembling hand The ancestor walked and shaped the land [Chorus] One step forward one world turned A spark of life the fire burned From caves of stone to skies above The first step was born of love
