Catch & Release pt. 2

Rain on my lashes, city under my skin, I hear your breath every time I slip in. Sirens sing low, but I dance through the noise, You follow my shadow, I follow my choice. My prints fade out where your orders begin, You think you’ve got me, I let you get in. “You gonna catch me or just watch me run?” Smile like a secret, loaded gun. Midnight run, I lead, you follow, Every step tastes sharp and hollow. I disappear just out of reach, Leave you wanting what you couldn’t keep. Cat and mouse in the wired rain, Say you hate it, feel it again. Midnight run, don’t say my name— You love the thrill, you love the game. *** Skybridge shaking, drones scream red, I feel your focus burn my back instead. Hands almost touch, sparks in the air, You’re close enough to almost care. I move first, I always do, Every exit bends to me, not you. Grapple line cuts through the night, I let you think you’ve won this fight. Midnight run, slow release, Your rules crack under cyber heat. I vanish laughing, soft and thin, You let me go, because we both win. Cat and mouse, no finish line, Your pulse syncs up perfectly with mine. *** Midnight run, I own the night, You hunt me down by city light. I slip away, but we both know— I’ll let you catch me… when I say so.
