What is Man? Eternally, thou reignest alone. Uncaused, thou art ever the same. Clothed in majesty, thou alone art worthy. Thou wert, and art and wilt remain. Almighty God - we worship thee. Revered, most holy is thy name. The angels bow, before thy light. They, Lord, for thy glory veil their sight. By thy pure Word, the worlds were framed. Thine hand, doth stretch the heavens wide. They extol thee, their praises ring, “In love, Thou hast created Man.” He bowed Himself, God walked with Man, We rose, yet sold Him for nought. Inclining low, God spake with Man. We fell, and heeded vainest thought. In humility, God died for Man. In pride, we scorned His sacrifice. Jesus my Lord, thou bore my cross. Thy death hath brought me life anew. Thou paid my debt, redeemed my soul. Sin’s stain is gone, for e’er made white For ever saved, I shall not die, For lo, my Saviour is alive. What is Man? That thou art mindful of him? Oh, What is Man!
