My First Button

The day Mom smiled and called my name, My little world was not the same. She placed one treasure in my hand— The greatest gift in all the land. She said, "Now son, use wisdom here..." I heard about the first three words, I fear. 'Cause all I saw was shiny red, With glorious button-shaped thoughts in my head. It sparkled like a hero's crown, I knew I'd never put it down. Oh, my red button, bright and bold, Better than a chest of gold. Kids had bikes and fancy toys, Video games and noisy joys. But nothing made my heart go *BOOM!* Like my little button in its velvet room. I polished it from dusk till dawn, Admired it every single morn'. Friends would ask, "Can we push it too?" I'd laugh and say, "Mom picked **me**, not you!" I'd guard it like a dragon's prize, With happy tears and watchful eyes. Oh, my red button, proud and grand, The finest treasure in the land. Rainy days or skies of blue, Everything felt shiny too. Life was simply twice as fun, 'Cause I had the legendary button. When I felt grumpy, sad, or blue, I'd hold that button like heroes do. It didn't fix a single thing... It just made my goofy heart go *zing!* Oh, my red button, don't you see? It means the whole wide world to me. Guard it well and hold it tight, Keep it polished, clean, and bright. And when the moment's finally right... Push that button with all your might! So thanks, dear Mom, for trusting me— Best gift there'll ever, ever be. Long live the button, brave and bright... Now... where'd I put it? Oh—that's right!
