Love My Dog More Than You

Raw Delta blues stomp with male vocals; raspy lead over detuned slide guitar and a dirty, foot-stomp groove, Sparse kick and floor-tom thud drive the shuffle, with wheezy harp fills answering vocal lines, Verses keep it low and snarling, chorus opens into shout-along gang vocals and claps, bridge drops to almost a cappella before slamming back in, delta blues, male vocals

[Verse 1] You rolled in like summer Smelled sweet Burned fast Left me with your wine glass And your shade in my bed But she was on that front porch Head tilt Brown eyes Mud on her paws Tongue out Tail high [Chorus] I love my dog more than you 'Cause she ain't ever left me blue You packed your bags She just stayed true I love my dog More than you [Verse 2] You said you'd write letters Paper stayed clean You chased every bright thing On every dark street But she waits by that screen door Heard your name Still came She don't hold my past Like a weight in a chain [Chorus] [Bridge] You gave me cold shoulders She gave me warm fur You gave me cracked promises She just comes when I call her Yeah You ran for the night She's curled at my boots Got more heart in her heartbeat Than you had in your truth [Chorus]
