The heroine walks slowly, a pale-gray coat draped over her shoulders, holding a bouquet of pink roses— her grandmother’s favorite. She follows a narrow path toward the cemetery. But someone has arrived before her. A fresh bouquet of white chrysanthemums rests quietly against the headstone, their petals still jeweled with dew.

Grandma… I came to see you.
How have you been, up there in heaven?
Forgive me… I haven’t come as often as I should.
You used to call me “little fibber,” remember?
Said I always promised to visit, 
but came only after the flowers had faded.
