[Verse] In seventy-four Dale hit the ground A spaceship crash made a crazy sound The green lagoon lit up the dark Close to the breaker near Russell Park [Verse 2] The government came with a cover-up plan Said it was a lantern not a spaceship man But Dale was there with his big black eyes In Carbondale beneath the starry skies [Chorus] Oh Dale oh Dale from the green lagoon Crash-landed here under a crescent moon The truth’s out there but it’s hard to find They called it a lantern to mess with our minds [Verse 3] He stepped out smooth with a disco strut Wearing moon boots and a cosmic cut Said “Take me to your leader or the local bar” His spaceship wrecked but he came so far [Bridge] The people whispered they knew the tale Of the alien guy they called ol' Dale The papers printed what they were told But the real story’s worth its weight in gold [Chorus] Oh Dale oh Dale from the green lagoon Crash-landed here under a crescent moon The truth’s out there but it’s hard to find They called it a lantern to mess with our minds [Verse 3] It 's only a lantern the G-Men said. As they loaded Dale's ship and quickly fled. They tried to sneak back when no one would care. But the kids on the breaker saw the whole affair. [Chorus] Oh Dale oh Dale from the green lagoon Crash-landed here under a crescent moon The truth’s out there but it’s hard to find They called it a lantern to mess with our minds
