He is dreaming of freedom, But bound by fluorescent chains. This is the tale of bold ambitions, And questionable ... wallpapers! [Verse 1] Locked in a wheel, where dreams are slain, A cog in the machine, a life so mundane. Meetings upon meetings, where nothing's decided, Emails that confuse, chaos undivided. The boss cries out: “Workshop saves the day!”, But Edgar sighs: "Isn't there another way??" Meanwhile drowning in a tide of tasks absurd, Welcome to the corporate jungle, without a word. [Verse 2] Edgar’s mind sails to distant shores, Owning cocktail bars and even tourist stores. A South Sea paradise, where life’s serene, Far from his workspace, where anarchy convenes. Plans are drawn, the escape’s at him, But with no funds to spare, there's no freedom to win, The bold getaway, the tents he’d raze, Are swallowed whole by reality’s haze. [Chorus] Lost in the maze of a nine-to-five curse, Where life gets better... erm, no - only worse! From paper stacks to a tropical breeze, Edgar dreams of a life with ease. But he can't flee his tasks and the printer’s hum, It's a life on repeat, to which he succumbs. Ever yearning to break free, Yet he's bound, never to reach the South Sea. [Verse 3] Edgar swaps his screensaver for a beach delight, A digital paradise, radiant and bright. Behind his desk, the grey wall moved away, A tropical mural will save his day. Palm-tree shirts defy the dress-code law, He flounces through the office, peer's jaws hit the floor. With sushi in hand and some tacos to spare, He declares: "Change of scenery is everywhere!!!" [Chorus] Lost in the maze of a nine-to-five curse, Where life gets better... erm, no - only worse! From paper stacks to a tropical breeze, Edgar dreams of a life with ease. But he can't flee his tasks and the printer’s hum, It's a life on repeat, to which he succumbs. Ever yearning to break free, Yet he's bound, never to reach the South Sea. [Bridge] Screensaver of dreams, Now deemed a crime! By IT’s hand, due to corporate design. Tropical paperwall, a rebel’s call, But the boss declares, "Remove it all!" Dragged to the meeting, his offenses exposed, "Individualism unchecked!", they composed. Edgar mourns, as the truth draws near, The system’s chains, they're forever here. [Outro] The mural fades, the snacks are gone, Edgar laughs,: "What have I done?" A gentle sigh with a knowing grin, "Freedom’s not in the walls, it’s within!" His shirts, his snacks - a masquerade, The grind remains, yet further plans are made. He’ll trade his spreadsheets for a brighter scene, Escape the system and chase new greens!
