“The God You Cannot Buy” By Sheryl Clyde / Thunderbird
[Verse 1 – The Salesman in the Temple] You stand beneath the studio lights, Promising gold for a thousand tonight. Calling it “seed,” calling it “faith,” But you’re selling what heaven gives freely as grace. Your smile is slick as the serpent's line, You claim the voice of God — but Jesus says the voice ain’t mine. Because my Jesus overturned the stands, And He drives out thieves with His nail‑scarred hands. [Chorus – The Holy Fire] 🔥 You cannot buy Him, you cannot sell Him, The Lion won’t dance for the lies you tell them. No miracle-for-money, no blessing-on-demand — The King of Glory doesn’t bow to any man. He’s not your product, He’s not your prize — He sees your heart behind your hollow cries. The God of truth says, “Enough of your lies!” You cannot buy the Lord Most High. [Verse 2 – The Poor You Ignore] The widow counts pennies in a trembling hand, The hungry child prays you’d understand. But you say “Give more — or God won’t move,” As if the Holy One needs your groove. You dress up greed in a Bible verse, Turn broken souls into your purse. But the Shepherd leaves your ninety-nine, To find the one you claim ain’t worth His time. [Bridge – Prophetic Thunder] (spoken, fierce) Simon the Sorcerer tried this too — “Give me the power, I’ll pay for it!” And Peter thundered: “May your money perish with you, for thinking you could buy the gift of God!” (Acts 8:20) The Lord says: “My house is not a marketplace. My Spirit is not a wage. My miracles are not a transaction. Repent — or the fire you sell will burn you first.” [Chorus – The Holy Fire Returns] 🔥 You cannot buy Him, you cannot sell Him, The Lion won’t dance for the lies you tell them. Your golden altar is made of sand — And the storm of truth is at hand. He heals for love, He saves for free, No price tag on Calvary. The God of the widow, the orphan’s cry — You cannot buy the Lord Most High. [Verse 3 – The Bride Speaks] I’ve walked through hell, I know His name, I’ve felt His fire, I’ve borne His flame. And every miracle He gave to me Was blood-bought, fierce, and utterly free. So preacher, take your “ninety days”… I’ll take the cross, the truth that stays. I don’t need your promise-lie — My Husband reigns beyond the sky. [Final Chorus – The Verdict from Heaven] 🔥 You cannot buy Him, you cannot chain Him, No thousand-dollar vow will ever claim Him. He is the Lord, the Crucified — And every lie of yours will die. The Bride will rise, the poor will eat, Your empire crumbles at His feet. The Lamb says “Come,” the Spirit cries — You cannot buy the Lord Most High. [Outro – Whispered, unshaken] The miracles are free. The blood was the price. And heaven is watching every slice you take from broken hearts. But the Lion walks. And He will roar. And you will fool them… No more.
