[Verse 1] Down by Riverbend Springs Where the water runs cold I saw those silver shaft wagons Rolling out of the gold Old paint on the boards And a crease in the wheel Like they carried a promise You could almost still feel [Pre-Chorus] Dust on the fenders Sun on the rail You could hear that old road Calling through the vale And I watched you smile Like you knew the way Straight past the bending To a brighter day [Chorus] Silver shaft wagons Take me along Silver shaft wagons Roll me back home Riverbend Springs Where the heart learns to stay Silver shaft wagons Carry me away (Silver shaft wagons) [Verse 2] There’s a red barn leaning Past the sycamore bend And a screen door singing Every time you come in Mama’s on the porch With a glass of sweet tea Saying "Boy, if you leave here You still come back to me" [Pre-Chorus] Dust on the fenders Sun on the rail You could hear that old road Calling through the vale And I watched you smile Like you knew the way Straight past the bending To a brighter day [Chorus] Silver shaft wagons Take me along Silver shaft wagons Roll me back home Riverbend Springs Where the heart learns to stay Silver shaft wagons Carry me away (Silver shaft wagons) [Bridge] If the world gets heavy And the nights run long We can follow that moon glow Where we both belong Past the bend, past the brake Past the last white stone Riverbend Springs Ain't a place alone [Final Chorus] Silver shaft wagons Take me along Silver shaft wagons Roll me back home Riverbend Springs Where the heart learns to stay Silver shaft wagons Carry me away Silver shaft wagons Carry me away (Silver shaft wagons)
