Suspicion Can't See Through Walls

Suspicion Can't See Through Walls Written by David Wright 5 July 2026 Copyright © 2026, by David Wright [Verse 1] They met me down by the pier lights Where the ocean kissed the boards Frank saw trouble in the shadows And he slipped right through the door I stayed there runnin’ my mouth, Lord Said things I shouldn’t say Now every word I ever spoke Is coming back today [Pre-Chorus] They say they saw me on the shoreline From a hundred yards away But distance turns a man to smoke When the daylight starts to fade [Chorus] Suspicion can’t see through walls Can’t swear what it never saw Can’t chase a man through fences Then call that truth in law There’s a mile between the story And the cuffs around my hands Suspicion can’t see through walls But tomorrow it takes the stand [Verse 2] They say the dog came through the flowers Found me breathin’ in the green But that hound don’t know no candy sales Or what them officers had seen They hauled me back toward the pier side Put me in another car Seven minutes before the search came Then they told me who I are [Pre-Chorus] “You know exactly why, boy” Was the answer that I got Then he said I had no rights left Like my name was already shot [Chorus] Suspicion can’t see through walls Can’t swear what it never saw Can’t chase a man through fences Then call that truth in law There’s a mile between the story And the cuffs around my hands Suspicion can’t see through walls But tomorrow it takes the stand [Bridge] Frank had the product Frank had the plan Bubba had the mouth And a pistol in his hand Legal on the iron Trouble in the pack Now the State wants every shadow To point its finger back [Verse 3] There were strangers on that shoreline Locals swingin’ in the sand Two men diggin’ for metal Frank ridin’ through the land Grainy eyes from a long way A badge behind a vest They brought me back to where it started But they ain’t brought back the rest [Final Chorus] Suspicion can’t see through walls Can’t swear what it never saw Can’t lose a man for minutes Then dress that guess as law There’s a mile between the story And the cuffs around my hands Suspicion can’t see through walls But tomorrow it takes the stand [Outro] So tell the judge I’m comin’ Tell counsel I’ll be there With the truth tucked in my pocket And trouble in the air Suspicion can’t see through walls No, suspicion can’t see through walls But tomorrow it takes the stand
