You've Lost My Trust

V5.5

My grandparents believed in you They worked hard all their lives, paid their taxes, did their bit They thought you stood for something solid Something you could rely on My family believed in you Mum and dad voted every single time They passed that trust down to us Told us the system would look after its own Now you have no clue (we see that) No clue what life is like up here anymore What is there left to believe in? When everything you touch turns to dust You have no competence But you kid yourselves that you do (yeah, right) You sit in your offices making decisions About people whose names you’ll never know You’ve lost touch with the streets we walk every day And still act like you know best We used to look up to you Now we just look at you and wonder How did it get this bad? How did you lose our trust so completely? Now you have no clue And we’re the ones paying the price What is there left to believe in? When the people who were supposed to lead us Have none left themselves You have competence? (I think not) We’re still waiting to see it (nah, forget you) Forget you Forget you Forget you
