Oops, I Burned the Pancakes

[Verse] Woke up to the sound of the gulls in the sky A fire still cracklin' A coffee gone dry The skillet was waitin' The batter was thick But the morning had plans for a different trick [Chorus] Oops I burned the pancakes Black as the night Smoke signals risin' A comical sight The crew's all a-laughin' Their plates still bare Oops I burned the pancakes Now the birds don't care [Verse 2] The butter was meltin' A glorious stream The sizzle was music A breakfast daydream But the wind caught the flame Gave it wild delight And turned golden dreams into charcoal bites [Prechorus] Oh flapjacks of fire Oh batter betrayed The wilderness wins No feast will be made [Chorus] Oops I burned the pancakes Black as the night Smoke signals risin' A comical sight The crew's all a-laughin' Their plates still bare Oops I burned the pancakes Now the birds don't care [Bridge] So raise up a mug to the ashes we dine To lessons in fire and poor breakfast time Next time I'll keep watch Won't let my guard down Or I'll burn every meal from the sea to the town
