[Verse 1] Blessed are the poor in spirit When the weight is hard to bear Blessed are the ones who cry out You are close, You hear our prayer When we come with empty hands Needing more than we can see You say heaven starts right here When we fall down on our knees [Pre-Chorus] You turn tears into glory You turn weakness into praise What the world calls nothing You call chosen, You call saved [Chorus] Blessed are the poor in spirit The kingdom is here, the kingdom is now Blessed are the ones who mourn You are near, You’re drawing close right now Blessed are the meek, they will rise Blessed are the hungry, satisfied This is Your upside-down kingdom Heaven breaking through our lives [Verse 2] Blessed are the ones who hunger For a righteousness that lasts Not for crowns or empty power But for truth that holds us fast Blessed are the merciful Giving grace the way You do Blessed are the ones who love Like the mercy that You prove [Pre-Chorus 2] You pour out what we don’t earn You forgive what we can’t change Every heart that runs to You Leaves forever rearranged [Chorus] Blessed are the poor in spirit The kingdom is here, the kingdom is now Blessed are the ones who mourn You are near, You’re drawing close right now Blessed are the meek, they will rise Blessed are the hungry, satisfied This is Your upside-down kingdom Heaven breaking through our lives [Bridge – build, then explode] Blessed are the pure in heart They will see You, they will see Blessed are the peacemakers Called Your sons eternally Blessed when we’re persecuted For the name of Jesus Christ We will rejoice, we will stand For the kingdom, for Your life [Bridge – repeat (bigger)] We will rejoice We will rejoice Great is our reward in heaven [Chorus – full / repeatable] Blessed are the poor in spirit The kingdom is here, the kingdom is now Blessed are the ones who mourn You are near, You’re drawing close right now Blessed are the meek, they will rise Blessed are the hungry, satisfied This is Your upside-down kingdom Heaven breaking through our lives [Outro / Vamp – choir friendly] The kingdom is here The kingdom is now We are blessed, we are blessed As heaven comes down
