A Little More Light

I used to think the dark would stay Some mornings, I forget there's more to life I've watched the seasons pass me by Some days I barely noticed time I've looked for reasons to keep going While something in me drifted further away There's a faint glow beneath the door The morning finds its way inside I can't explain what made me stop But lately I don't turn away Maybe healing doesn't make a sound Maybe hope is easy to miss Maybe I don't need to understand I just need to let the morning in Give me a little more light A little more room to breathe tonight I don't need to know where this will lead Just something small to help me believe And if tomorrow feels like this I'll take it as it comes I'm still here, still finding my way And maybe that's enough for today There are still days I disappear When even simple things feel hard I lose the thread of who I am And can't remember where I left myself But maybe I was never gone Just somewhere I couldn't reach There's a voice beneath the silence I can almost hear it now Maybe courage doesn't feel like strength Maybe it's just staying one more day With shaking hands and open eyes And letting something good surprise me Give me a little more light A little more room to breathe tonight I don't need to know where this will lead Just something small to help me believe And if tomorrow feels like this I'll take it as it comes I'm still here, still finding my way And maybe that's enough for today I don't have to bloom by spring I don't need to have it figured out I can grow without anyone noticing Even when the cold hasn't left I'm more than everything I've lost There are parts of me I haven't met And somewhere in the life ahead There may be things I can't imagine yet GIVE ME A LITTLE MORE LIGHT I'M READY TO OPEN MY EYES I DON'T NEED TO KNOW WHERE THIS WILL LEAD THERE'S STILL A LITTLE HOPE IN ME AND IF THE NIGHT COMES BACK AGAIN I WON'T MISTAKE IT FOR THE END THERE'S MORE TO ME THAN WHAT I'VE KNOWN AND I DON'T HAVE TO FACE IT ALL ALONE A little more light... Maybe that's where I begin.
