# PISTIS SOPHIA ## CHAPTER II ### The Descent of the Light-Power The disciples were seated together upon the **Mount of Olives**, speaking among themselves of the mysteries Jesus had revealed. Their hearts were filled with wonder. They rejoiced greatly, and in their joy they said to one another: > “Blessed are we above all those who dwell upon the earth. > > For the Saviour has unveiled these things before us. > > We have received the Fullness. > > We have been shown the completion of all things.” And while they spoke these words, Jesus sat a short distance away from them, alone and silent. The disciples believed they had reached the summit of revelation. They did not yet understand that what had been given to them was only the beginning. --- Then it happened on the **fifteenth day of the moon**, in the month called **Tybi**. The moon had reached its fullness. And when the sun rose and began its course across the heavens, something appeared behind it. A Power of Light emerged. Its brilliance was beyond measure. No earthly flame resembled it. No light beneath heaven could be compared with it. For it had come forth from the **Light of Lights**. It had descended from the innermost depths of the Last Mystery, the **Twenty-Fourth Mystery**, from within those hidden orders belonging to the second space of the First Mystery. It came from beyond the boundary the disciples believed to be final. And the Light descended upon Jesus. --- The Power surrounded him completely. Above him. Below him. Around him. Within him. Jesus remained seated apart from his disciples, but his form vanished inside the radiance. The Light increased until there was no measure for it. No boundary. No edge. No place where its glory ended. The disciples could no longer see Jesus. Their eyes were overcome. The brightness darkened their sight, not because the Light was absent, but because there was too much of it. They saw only the radiance. --- And from that radiance came countless rays. But the rays were not alike. Each possessed its own nature. Each carried a different glory. Each rose above the one beneath it. Light upon light. Power upon power. Glory beyond glory. From the lowest depths beneath the earth, the radiance stretched upward through the heavens. And each ascending ray was greater than the last. The disciples could not number them. They could not comprehend their order. They could not determine where one ended and another began. They saw only an immeasurable architecture of Light opening before them. As though the heavens themselves had been torn apart. As though the hidden worlds had suddenly become visible. As though something from beyond creation had reached down and clothed Jesus in its own substance. --- Then their joy turned to terror. For they understood that this was not merely illumination. It was a Presence. A Power. A descent from regions they had never seen. The same disciples who had moments before believed themselves blessed with the Fullness now trembled before something immeasurably greater than all they thought they knew. And seeing the Light that surrounded Jesus, they were seized by fear. Their hearts shook. Their minds became troubled. And they fell into great agitation. For the veil had opened further. And what descended through it was more terrible in its glory than anything they had yet been prepared to behold.
