The headlines burn like a midnight prairie Truth gets traded for a liar’s dime Neighbors turn cold hearts grow weary Everybody’s running out of time The streets are loud with a restless thunder Families praying behind locked doors We keep asking how much more we can suffer While the world keeps shaking at its core But when our knees hit that hard, cold ground We know whose name can turn it around Come back soon Lord come back soon We’re crying beneath this blood-red moon The world’s falling fast and we need You now Need Your strength when we don’t know how Hold us up when the night cuts through Lead us home when the road ain’t true Come back soon, Lord, come back soon We’re waiting watching calling for You We’ve got fear in the rearview mirror And heavy chains on a tired soul Some days faith seems a thousand miles nearer Some days we can’t see past the hole But You met us down in the valley You walked with us through the flame When our hands were empty and our hearts were breaking You carried us when we couldn’t stand When our strength runs dry and our courage bends You’re the beginning where the breaking ends Come back soon Lord come back soon We’re crying beneath this blood-red moon The world’s falling fast and we need You now Need Your strength when we don’t know how Hold us up when the night cuts through Lead us home when the road ain’t true Come back soon Lord come back soon We’re waiting, watching, calling for You There are mothers grieving in the shadows There are fathers fighting not to fall There are lost men walking through the dust storms Trying to hear Your voice above it all Still, a spark lives under the ashes Still, Your mercy finds the weak You give us bread for another mile And the courage to rise when we can’t speak If the trumpet sounds in the dead of night We’ll lift our eyes to the eastern sky No more sorrow no more chains No more blood on these battered plains Until that day, keep our hearts made new Give us strength to make it through We’ll stand our watch we’ll keep our flame And shout with joy at the sound of Your name We need You in the battle We need You in the storm We need You when the faith gets thin When the night won’t let us mourn You’ve brought us through the fire You’ve held us through the pain So we’ll keep looking down that long dirt road Waiting for You to come again Come back soon Lord come back soon We’re crying beneath this blood-red moon The world’s falling fast, and we need You now Need Your strength when we don’t know how Hold us up when the night cuts through Lead us home when the road ain’t true Come back soon Lord come back soon We’re waiting watching calling for You Come back soon We’re holding on to You Come back soon Make all things new
