[Intro] (Fiddle and Pedal Steel intro, 3/4 waltz time) [Verse 1: Female Vocals] The bottle stands there on the shelf Like a friend who knows myself Better than you ever did Stop acting like I’m just a kid [Verse 2: Male Vocals] I poured a glass to drown the pain Listening to the midnight train I know I let you down today But I don’t know what else to say [Chorus: Harmonies, Soaring] It’s always Whiskey and Why Why did we let this love die? The amber burns going down The saddest toast in this whole town One makes me remember, one makes me cry It’s always Whiskey and Why [Verse 3: Harmony] We dance around the kitchen floor Waitin' for one to slam the door But the music stopped a year ago Now we’re just putting on a show [Bridge: Male Lead, then Female joins] If I put the bottle down Would you stick around? (Female: I don't know if I can) [Chorus: Harmonies, Soaring] It’s always Whiskey and Why Why did we let this love die? The amber burns going down The saddest toast in this whole town One makes me remember, one makes me cry It’s always Whiskey and Why [Outro] Whiskey and why... (Steel guitar solo to fade)
