When Maw and Paw Busted the TV

[Verse] Well, Maw was sittin’ there with her quilting square, Paw had his boots propped up on the ol’ armchair. She wanted her stories, he wanted the game, And that’s when the sparks flew and the yelling came. [Verse] He hollered, "Maw, the Cowboys are takin' the field!" She snapped back, "Paw, I don't care, now yield!" She grabbed the remote, he grabbed it right back, And the TV screen took the brunt of their smack. [Chorus] Oh, the screen went black, and the sparks flew high, A busted-up box and a busted-up fight. Now the neighbors heard, and the kids ran wild, When Maw and Paw broke the TV in style. [Verse] Now Maw grabbed a skillet, Paw grabbed a broom, The TV just sat there, sealin’ its doom. With a mighty whack, and a deafening sound, That ol' set was layin’ face down on the ground. [Monologue] (Laughter) “Well, lemme tell ya, folks, it was a sight to see. Maw’s hollerin’ ‘bout her soaps, Paw’s screamin’ ‘bout his team—next thing ya know, that ol’ Zenith TV got turned into firewood! Paw swears he saw the quarterback’s face flash on the screen one last time, but Maw says it was her soap opera villain schemin’ his way to the top. Either way, that poor TV didn’t stand a chance! Now they’re watchin’ shadows on the wall and fightin’ over whose turn it is to make the popcorn!” [Chorus] Oh, the screen went black, and the sparks flew high, A busted-up box and a busted-up fight. Now the neighbors heard, and the kids ran wild, When Maw and Paw broke the TV in style.
