[Spoken Introduction] Our bishop said, “We’ve talked about Zion long enough. Maybe this week—we ought to try it.” That’s when things got complicated. [Verse 1] The bishop said, “Let’s build up Zion,” so we formed a committee at ten. We scheduled another planning meeting to decide when we’d meet again. But Sister Jones fed a hungry family while we organized the file. And the elders fixed a widow’s roof without discussing it for a while. [Chorus] The Sunday our ward became Zion, nobody knew what to do. We’d talked about it every Sunday— never thought it might come true! There wasn’t a form or a five-year plan that told us where to begin. We loved our neighbor and shared what we had— and Zion came sneaking in. [Verse 2] A young man needed employment, so an old man taught him a trade. A couple couldn’t afford a home, so the whole ward came to their aid. The Relief Society knew who was lonely before the council reviewed the list. And nobody asked, “Who is assigned?” They just saw the need and assisted. [Bridge] We thought Zion needed a building, a password, a budget, and keys. Turns out it mostly needed people to get off their padded seats! The gospel escaped from the chapel and wandered through the neighborhood. And all those things we’d preached for years— we finally decided we should! [Final Chorus] The Sunday our ward became Zion, we finally knew what to do. We cared for the old and taught the young and carried each other through. No poor among us, no one alone— just neighbors becoming kin. We loved one another and shared what we had— And Zion came sneaking in. [Spoken Ending] Next Sunday, we formed a committee to find out how it happened. They’re still meeting.
