[soft morning ambience, distant bells, gentle piano] My brothers and sisters... Welcome. Not to a place of perfect answers. Not to a room filled with perfect people. Not to a morning where every shadow has already disappeared. Welcome... to Dawn’s First Light. [pause] There is something sacred about the first light of morning. It does not arrive all at once. It begins quietly. A thin line on the horizon. A little gold against the darkness. Then slowly... the world becomes visible again. Perhaps faith is often like that. Not a blazing revelation. Not a voice from Heaven shaking the walls. Sometimes faith begins with enough light to take one more step. [soft bell] That is what I hope these words can be. Not commandments shouted from a tower. Not judgment. Not a demand that you become perfect before you are welcome here. Only light. Enough light to see where you are. Enough light to remember where you are going. And perhaps enough light to recognize the Savior walking beside you. [pause] The gospel of Jesus Christ is not a story about flawless people. It is a story about people who fall, people who wander, people who doubt, people who become afraid... and a Savior who continues calling them home. He does not wait for us at the end of perfection. He meets us where the road actually begins. Where we are tired. Where we are confused. Where we have made mistakes. Where the night has lasted longer than we expected. [gentle strings enter] And then He says... Come. Not because the journey will always be easy. But because you do not have to walk it alone. [pause] Here we will speak about repentance. Not as humiliation, but as turning toward something better. We will speak about agency. The gift and responsibility of choosing who we become. We will speak about friendship, forgiveness, the purpose of mortality, the life to come, and the strange questions that visit us when the world becomes quiet. We will speak about Christ. About mercy. About change. About the possibility that yesterday does not have to own tomorrow. [bell] And I will not pretend that faith removes every question. Sometimes faith gives us the courage to carry questions without letting them carry us. There are things you may not understand yet. There are prayers that may seem unanswered. There are wounds that take time. There are nights when dawn feels very far away. But morning does not need your permission to come. The light keeps moving. Even when you cannot see it. [pause] Perhaps that is why I love the dawn. Darkness never has to be denied. You can look directly at the night and still believe the sun is coming. That is hope. Not pretending everything is well. Knowing that darkness does not receive the final word. [soft ticking begins] And neither does your worst mistake. Neither does your fear. Neither does your loneliness. Neither does the person you used to be. Through Jesus Christ, there is always another step. Another choice. Another morning. [pause] So wherever you are when you hear these words... welcome. If your faith is strong, welcome. If your faith is trembling, welcome. If you have questions, welcome. If you have been gone a long time... welcome home. You do not need to pretend here. Bring the questions. Bring the regrets. Bring the hopes you are almost afraid to hope for. Bring the pieces. Christ has always known what to do with broken things. [music rises gently] These sermons are not the sunrise. I cannot give you that. I can only point toward the horizon. The Light belongs to Christ. And if something spoken here helps you turn your face even slightly toward Him... then these words have done enough. [pause] So come. Sit for a while. Listen. Question. Remember. And when you are ready... rise. The night may have been long. But look toward the horizon. [one clear bell] The first light is already here. Welcome... to Dawn’s First Light.
