The World Is Softer

[Verse 1] You notice when the sparrow limps Across the courthouse steps You leave a little water there And never count the thanks You speak as if each wounded thing Still has a song to give And in the pause before your answer I remember how to live [Pre-Chorus] You never ask the world to praise you You just see who needs your care [Chorus] You have a beautiful soul Steady as the tide beneath the pier You make the hard days less alone Just by being here You have a beautiful soul Kindness in the things you choose And every life you touch can tell The world is softer, thanks to you [Verse 2] You learn the names of every tree Along the county road You stop to watch the first spring buds Push through the stubborn snow When someone falters, you don't judge The words they can't get right You give them time to find themselves And stay until they do [Pre-Chorus] You never ask the world to praise you You just see who needs your care [Chorus] You have a beautiful soul Steady as the tide beneath the pier You make the hard days less alone Just by being here You have a beautiful soul Kindness in the things you choose And every life you touch can tell The world is softer, thanks to you [Bridge] I hope you know what I can see In all the ways you choose to be A patient heart, a truthful gaze A gentle force through ordinary days [Final Chorus] You have a beautiful soul Steady as the tide beneath the pier You make the hard days less alone Just by being here You have a beautiful soul Kindness in the things you choose And every life you touch can tell The world is softer, thanks to you [Outro] The world is softer, thanks to you
