The 3 a.m. Vertical Limit: Beyond the Void of Mystery A testimony of what took place on the ninth day of the tenth month in the year two thousand and twenty-five. By Garry Maple Introduction For many months, the Lord had been drawing me deeper through His Word, prayer, and meditation. Then, in the stillness of one morning around 3 a.m., He gathered those truths together with remarkable clarity and impressed them upon my heart. What follows is not a new revelation beyond Scripture, but a fresh unveiling of truths already revealed in His Word—truths that drew me into a deeper awareness of His holiness, my creatureliness, and His eternal purpose in Christ. It is important for me to say from the outset that what I describe in these pages was not a vision, a dream, an altered state of consciousness, nor some mystical experience detached from the Word of God. Everything I experienced arose out of many months of prayerfully meditating on Scripture, particularly Psalm one hundred and nineteen, and reflecting upon the glorious attributes of God's being, all revealed in Scripture and affirmed throughout the writings of the Church Fathers. It was the Holy Spirit taking the truths already revealed in His Word and making them wonderfully real to my heart, leading me from merely knowing about God to a deeper communion with the Father through His only begotten Son. I offer this testimony with humility, knowing that words can never fully describe the reality of God's presence. My prayer is simply that these pages will encourage others to seek Jesus through His Word and discover for themselves the joy of knowing God more deeply. As you listen to this testimony, I hope you understand that I am not speaking about two levels of Christians, the haves and the have-nots, as though some might possess a higher spiritual life than others. No, every true believer is united to Christ, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, and brought into fellowship with God through His grace alone. Yet within our ordinary life of God's saving faith, God can graciously make the truths we already know through His Word wonderfully alive and real to our hearts. We are not discovering a different God—no—nor receiving some new revelation—no—but quietly growing in a personal awareness of the holy God we already know through our Lord Jesus Christ. That is my prayer for everyone who listens to this testimony.
