“VERTUAL JULY” (Intro) Yeah… Trail Running NZ… Thirty-one days… You either climb… Or you die. ⸻ (Verse 1) Wake up, headlamp, coffee still black, One hundred vert, throw the whole world on my back. Next day two, then three, then four, By the end of July we ain’t got no floor. Legs screaming “quit.” Brain saying “nah.” Every damn staircase looking like Aoraki, cuz. Rain on the ridge, mud in my teeth, Neighbours think I’m possessed running repeats in the street. No banking vert. Miss one? You’re cooked. Midnight hits, better check your damn book. Split it if you need, Hike if you must, This ain’t about pace… It’s about stubborn as… ⸻ (Hook) VERTUAL JULY! Climb. Climb. Never come down. Every day’s higher, Every day’s pain, Everybody talking… Till they feel that strain. VERTUAL JULY! Run. Hike. Survive. Thirty-one days… Only the mountain decides. ⸻ (Verse 2) Big love That’s It, keeping things lubricated Hot rub in the vest when the body’s running null. Merrell NZ laced up gripping every root, While the fresh legs vanished somewhere after kilometre two. Huntaway Run Co looking clean at the start, Looking like a model… Crying by the car park. Creepers keeping toes blister free all week, If they did mens underwear is that just a normal sock. Kinisi got the poles when the calves say no, Dragging broken souls up another bloody hill though. Then Mountain Skag rolls through, Looking rough, looking mean, If suffering was fashion… We’re the cover of the magazine. ⸻ (Verse 3) Leaderboard updating every half an hour, Everybody refreshing like they found superpowers. “Bro, my vert ain’t showing!” Privacy strikes again, Check your damn settings, Save us all the pain. Public profile. Or accept the follow. Otherwise tomorrow’s gonna feel real hollow. One missed day… Whole month’s gone. Thirty days of graft… Deleted before dawn. This ain’t a race. It’s survival mode. Some chasing prizes, Some just chasing home. ⸻ (Hook) VERTUAL JULY! Climb. Climb. Never come down. Every day’s higher, Every day’s pain, Everybody talking… Till they feel that strain. VERTUAL JULY! Run. Hike. Survive. Thirty-one days… Only the mountain decides. ⸻ (Bridge) No medals for excuses. No shortcuts. No elevators. Just lungs… Legs… And another hundred metres tomorrow. ⸻ (Final Verse) Cash on the line. Five hundred waiting. But every finisher knows… That’s not the motivation. It’s proving to yourself When the tank says empty, You can still find another climb… Another century. Trail Running NZ, Whole country’s watching. From Bluff to the Cape, Everybody grinding. See you on the hill, Or see you disappear. July don’t care. The mountain don’t care. Now earn your damn vert. ⸻ (Outro) Run. Hike. Survive. VERTUAL JULY… See you tomorrow.
