She can back that rig down a narrow drive Before the daylight hits the sky Hook that trailer, check every chain Load that mare in the pouring rain She don’t need somebody holding her hand She’s got dust on her boots and a damn good plan If the world says, “Girl, you better wait” She just smiles and opens the gate She’s hit the dirt, she’s felt that pain Brushed it off and climbed back in again She don’t need saving Just open that gate She’s already saddled And she ain’t gonna wait Let her run, let her slide Let that dirt start flying She’ll take the reins And make her own way She don’t need saving Just open that gate She can throw that saddle on by herself Don’t need some cowboy’s trophy shelf She’ll chase that circle, fast then slow Hit that rundown and let it go She’s learned every scar and earned every bruise Knows how to win and how to lose Knock her down, she’ll make you wait ‘Cause she’ll climb back on and head for the gate She ain’t looking for a hero tonight Give her some room and watch her ride She don’t need saving Just open that gate She’s already saddled And she ain’t gonna wait Let her run, let her slide Let that dirt start flying She’ll take the reins And make her own way She don’t need saving Just open that gate Don’t call her fearless She’s been scared before Courage ain’t never being afraid It’s riding through it anyway So don’t tell her where she belongs She’s been proving that wrong all along Turn her loose… Stand back… And watch. SHE DON’T NEED SAVING JUST OPEN THAT GATE! She’s got fire in her blood And a dream she won’t waste Let her spin, let her slide Let that whole arena shake She’ll fall, she’ll rise She’ll ride anyway She don’t need saving No, she don’t need saving JUST OPEN THAT GATE! Yeah, she’ll handle the reins… You just open that gate.
