ECLIPSE OF THE HEART

[TITLE: ECLIPSE OF THE HEART] [INTRO — LOW WIND + DISTANT CHOIR] [SFX: cold wind] [SFX: distant thunder] [SFX: deep ambient drones] [SFX: heartbeat percussion slowly building] [Whispered] The moon remembers... The sky remembers... [BACKGROUND CHANTS] (Eclipse...) (Eclipse...) (Black as night...) (Black as night...) [VERSE 1] Sun goes down black as night Shadows creeping in Ancient warnings whispered low Where do we begin? Stones hum out a strange tune Beneath my tired feet Every road I ever walked Led me back to this street Ash falls from the empty sky Slow onto my hands Like the whole world burning down According to some ancient plan Old women by the riverside Speaking words I never knew Still somehow inside my chest I felt every word was true Candles floating through the dark Down a silent stream Everybody watching quiet Like they standing in a dream [BACKGROUND WHISPERS] (The sky turning...) (The sky turning...) (Eclipse...) (Eclipse...) [PRE-CHORUS] Sky turns purple red Got a bad, bad feeling Like the earth itself Started slowly peeling One black circle rising Over all I knew Something in the heavens Coming into view [CHOIR BUILD] Ohhhhhhhh... Ahhhhhhhh... Moon eats the sun... Moon eats the sun... [CHORUS] Eclipse of the heart yeah Moon eats the sun Eclipse of the heart yeah Nowhere to run Eclipse of the heart yeah Shadows overcome Everything I buried Finally coming undone [POST-CHORUS CHANTS] (Eclipse...) (Eclipse...) (No way to run...) (No way to run...) [VERSE 2] Glyphs upon the temple walls Started glowing gold Every story elders told Suddenly felt old Wind howled through the canyon Like a wounded ghost Every fear I tried to hide Rose up from below I saw figures in the distance Covered up in ash Standing underneath the sky Waiting for the crash Children held their mothers close Dogs refused to bark Something in the atmosphere Made daylight feel dark Black birds circling overhead Spinning round and round Like the heavens lost control And fell down to the ground [BACKGROUND WHISPERS] (Round and round...) (Round and round...) [PRE-CHORUS] The rivers stopped moving The trees stood still Even all the mountains Seemed afraid to feel One black circle rising Over all I knew Something in the heavens Breaking straight in two [CHORUS — BIGGER] Eclipse of the heart yeah Moon eats the sun Eclipse of the heart yeah Nowhere to run Eclipse of the heart yeah Shadows overcome Everything I buried Finally coming undone [CHOIR LAYER] (Undone...) (Undone...) (Eclipse...) (Eclipse...) [BRIDGE — ATMOSPHERIC BREAKDOWN] [SFX: thunder crack] [SFX: low choir swell] [SFX: heartbeat bass] Is it magic? Is it myth? Or a cosmic kiss? Is it judgment? Is it love? Something sent above? I heard the oceans crying I heard the forests sing Like every living creature Felt the shadow entering Old men dropped to their knees Young ones looked away Everybody searching For the words they couldn’t say The moon crossed through the sunlight Like a blade across the sky And for a moment all the world Forgot how to lie [BACKGROUND CHOIR] (Forgot how to lie...) (Forgot how to lie...) [VERSE 3] Ash covered the highways Smoke covered the hills Every church bell ringing Made the whole world still Temple fires burning Through the middle of the rain Somewhere in the darkness People dancing through the pain I looked into the river Didn’t recognize my face Like the eclipse had opened up Some hidden sacred place Every wound I carried Every ghost I knew Rose up from the silence When the whole sky split in two Then the light came slowly back Soft across the land Everybody breathing Like they born again again [PRE-FINAL BUILD] One sky over many One shadow over all Sometimes hearts awaken Only after they fall [FINAL CHORUS — MASSIVE] Eclipse of the heart yeah Moon eats the sun Eclipse of the heart yeah Nowhere to run Eclipse of the heart yeah Shadows overcome Everything I buried Finally coming undone Eclipse of the heart yeah The heavens opened wide All the fear inside us Had nowhere left to hide Eclipse of the heart yeah The darkness finally passed But nobody who saw it Would ever be the same after that [OUTRO] [Whispered] The moon remembers... The sky remembers... [BACKGROUND CHOIR FADING] (Eclipse...) (Eclipse...) [SFX: distant wind fading into silence]
