[Intro] [Spoken] Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others. β Philippians 2:3β4 [Verse 1] Easy to talk when you never lived the storm they walked, Easy to judge when you never wore the shoes they bought, Easy to preach from a pew that's soft and clean, But what do you know about the roads you've never seen? I knew a man who lost it all before he turned thirty, Family gone, name dragged through the ground all dirty, But I sat beside him in his lowest valley floor, And I started understanding what I hadn't known before. [Pre-Chorus] Philippians 2 β value others more than self, Stop looking at their struggle from the safety of your shelf, Step into the road they're walking, feel the dust and stones β Real compassion ain't a speech, it's getting off your throne. [Chorus] Walk the walk before you talk the talk, Step into their shoes and feel the rocks, Jesus walked among the broken and the lost β True love ain't a feeling, it's a cross. Walk the walk β it ain't just words you say, It's knees in the dirt at the end of the day, It's choosing to understand before you stand and judge β Walk the walk, move in love, walk the walk. [Spoken] For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are β yet He did not sin. β Hebrews 4:15 [Verse 2] Think about the God who could've stayed above it all, Instead He wrapped Himself in flesh and chose to fall β Into hunger, into heartbreak, into grief and pain, Hebrews 4 β He felt every weight and strain. He walked the roads of Galilee with blisters on His feet, He sat with the forgotten, washed the dust off of the weak, He didn't send a memo from a faraway throne, He came and walked the walk β He made the journey His own. [Break] [Chorus] Walk the walk before you talk the talk, Step into their shoes and feel the rocks, Jesus walked among the broken and the lost β True love ain't a feeling, it's a cross. Walk the walk β it ain't just words you say, It's knees in the dirt at the end of the day, It's choosing to understand before you stand and judge β Walk the walk, move in love, walk the walk. [Spoken] A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples. β John 13:34β35 [Verse 3] I used to think I had the answers for everyone's road, Til I walked a mile of somebody else's heavy load, Humbled me in seconds β shook the pride right off my back, There ain't a shortcut to compassion β it's the long, hard track. John 13 β love one another as He loved us first, Not the easy days of sunshine but the days of thirst, He loved us when we cursed Him, when we turned our backs, He walked to Calvary in our place β and that's a fact. [Spoken] Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. β Galatians 6:2 Β· Romans 12:15 [Bridge] He wept at Lazarus' grave β that's what love looks like, Not a speech from a distance but a tear in the night, Galatians 6 β carry what your brother can't lift, Romans 12 β mourn together, that's the gift. You want to be like Jesus? Then get in the dirt, Sit beside the grieving, feel the actual hurt, Don't throw scriptures from the sidewalk β walk the road with them, That's not religion β that's the walk of Bethlehem. [Chorus (Final)] Walk the walk before you talk the talk, Step into their shoes and feel the rocks, Jesus walked among the broken and the lost β True love ain't a feeling, it's a cross. Walk the walk β it ain't just words you say, It's knees in the dirt at the end of the day, It's choosing to understand before you stand and judge β Walk the walk, move in love, walk the walk. [Outro] Walk the walkβ¦ (walk the walk) In someone else's shoesβ¦ (feel the road) Jesus never talked without the walk to back it up β He was the Word made flesh β and that was more than enough. So every time I'm tempted just to talk and not to move, I think of sandaled feet that walked to prove the truth, If Christ put on our flesh to understand our frame β The least that I can do is learn somebody else's name. Walk the walkβ¦ move in loveβ¦ That's the callβ¦ walk the walk.
