KEEP THE CIRCLE TIGHT [Intro] Used to think time made a brother, thirty years made it official. Found out calendars don't certify character— some people age beside you and never grow with you. [Verse 1] Keep my circle tight, compass barely draw a ring, 'cause everybody love the tree when they see the fruit it bring. They don't water roots, they wait for branches getting weak, then call the fall an opportunity and pocket what they reach. I gave keys to the kingdom, they was measuring the doors, smiling in the kitchen while they calculating floors. Funny how a handshake turn forensic under pressure, thirty years of memories weighed less than stolen treasure. They wrote statements like betrayal came with perfect penmanship, tried to sink the captain, then escape aboard the sinking ship. That's a special kind of broke—ain't talking numbers in accounts, I'm talking character so bankrupt even friendship couldn't bounce. I used to call it loyalty, now I call it evidence, every scar a receipt from misplaced benevolence. I wasn't wrong for having heart, I was wrong with who could enter— gave the lobby to the public, now there's fingerprints on everything. [Hook] So I keep my circle tight, not from fear—from what I learned. Everybody wants the flame, few respect the way it burns. They see the house, not the years I spent laying every brick. Now access costs more than history— keep my circle tight. [Verse 2] Some people see your blessings like an unattended register, waiting on a bad night just to test the combination better. They don't want your road, the sleepless nights or what it took, they just want the final chapter without reading half the book. And betrayal got disguises— sometimes friendship, sometimes love, sometimes somebody knows your wounds and still decides exactly where to cut. That's why history don't impress me, I judge patterns, not duration. Thirty winters mean nothing if your loyalty got seasonal rotations. I learned proximity ain't brotherhood, and memories ain't contracts. Some people hug you with one arm while the other reaches past that. Now my trust got motion sensors, my peace got private gates. I don't hate everybody outside— I just stopped confusing access with grace. [Verse 3] And maybe that's the part that hurt— I saw what I wanted to see. Called red flags "complicated" when they waving directly at me. Kept extending invitations 'cause I valued what we'd been, but nostalgia is a crooked judge— keeps acquitting present sins. So this ain't just "look what they did," I had choices in the plot. Every time somebody showed me who they were, I edited the shot. That's growth— when the mirror gets a verse too. I can name every betrayal, still admit what I rehearsed through. Now the lesson ain't revenge, it's precision with the door. You don't need a hundred people when four real ones equal more. [Final Hook] Keep my circle tight, small enough to know who's real. No more trading peace for history, no more bargaining with how I feel. You can admire what I built, but admiration ain't a key. Everybody sees the castle— very few get past the street. Keep my circle tight. Not bitter—just precise. Trust ain't cheap because I'm cold, trust is expensive because I know its price.
