The Lord is my light—why fear the dark? My stronghold—why should I retreat? When evil hunts with teeth like swords, They stumble, torn at my feet. One thing I ask—this alone I seek: To dwell in Your house all my days, To gaze upon Your beauty, Lord, And lift my voice in endless praise. When enemies rise like a tightening noose, You hide me beneath Your wing. High on a rock, I lift my head— Then sing, my heart will sing! Do not turn from me, God my guide, Though father and mother depart. Lead me on paths of righteousness— Write Your law upon my heart. Wait for the Lord—be strong, take heart! He’ll lead you where morning gleams. No night lasts forever; lift up your eyes— The dawn is near as it seems.
