[Style: Southern nostalgia, heartfelt country soul, memories of home, southern imagery, warm baritone delivery] [Verse 1] My son, don’t forget My teachings; and keep my Commandments close to your heart: Because they will add length to your days, and years of life and peace. Kindness and truth won’t forsake you: Tie them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart: and you will find favor and good sense in the eyes of Elohim and mankind. Trust in YAHWEH with all your heart; and don’t rely on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will straighten your paths. Don’t be wise in your own eyes: fear YAHWEH, and turn away from evil. It will be health to your navel, and marrow to your bones. Honor YAHWEH with your wealth, and with the firstfruits of all your produce: then your barns be filled with plenty, and your vats overflow with new wine. [Chorus] My son, don’t despise YAHWEH’s; discipline and don’t resent His correction: Because YAHWEH corrects the ones He loves; like a father He is pleased in the son. Happy is the man who has found wisdom, and the man who can gain understanding. Because her gain is better than the profit of silver, and its gain is better than fine gold. She is more precious than jewels: nothing you desire can compare to her. Longer days are at her right; and at her left wealth and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her pathways lead to peace. She is a tree of life to those that grab hold of her: and her supporters are called blessed. YAHWEH founded the earth with wisdom; He established the heavens with understanding. through his knowledge the depths are opened up, and the clouds drip dew. [Verse 2 - about the trap] My son, don’t let them stray from your sight: preserve common sense and discretion: So will they be life to your soul, and a graceful necklace for your neck. Then you shall walk on your paths safely, and your foot won’t stumble. When you lie down, you won’t fear; and you will lie down, and your sleep will be pleasant. Don’t be afraid of sudden terror, or the desolation of the wicked, when it comes. Because YAHWEH will be your security, and will guard your feet from being caught in a trap. [Bridge - quiet, reflective, change of subject] [Final Chorus - big lift - Do not withhold good] Don’t hold back good from someone who deserves to it, when you have the power in your hand to help. Don’t say to your neighbor, Go and come back later, and tomorrow I’ll give it to you; when you already have it. Don’t plot evil against your neighbor, one who lives safely near you. Don’t argue with a man for no reason, if he hasn’t done evil to you. Don’t you envy a man of violence, or choose any of his ways. Because to depart is an abomination to YAHWEH: and His counsel is with the upright. YAHWEH’s curse is on the house of the wicked: but He blesses the home of the righteous. Just as He scorns the scorners: He is graceful to the humble. The wise inherit honor: and fools generate disgrace. [Build - drums and steel swell, lift into final chorus]
