VERSE 1 We’ve walked through churches We’ve worn our Sunday best We’ve read a thousand pages Still we ache for holy rest VERSE 2 We’ve said it is a flag We’ve said it’s of marble Not songs we raise by hand We’ve found our one true homeland CHORUS Your presence is our promised land Is right here and it’s right now Not a place we have to travel Not a line drawn in the sand Your presence is our promised land All we want and all we need Every breath in Your great plan Your presence, our promised land VERSE 3 We’ve chased a perfect church We’ve built with stone and plans Turned our hearts into cathedrals Till they broke like shifting sand VERSE 4 Not our laws or ink on paper Can fulfill what You’ve planned You Yourself, our livin’ covenant You alone our promised land CHORUS Your presence is our promised land Is right here and it’s right now Not a place we have to travel Not a line drawn in the sand Your presence is our promised land All we want and all we need Every breath in Your great plan Your presence, our promised land BRIDGE We don’t need another border We don’t need a throne of gold We just need Your holy nearness Here among Your gathered ones Every valley and every mountain Turns to holy sacred ground When You’re with us and when You’re in us This is milk and honey now DOWN CHORUS Your presence is our promised land Is right here and it’s right now Not a place we have to travel Not a line drawn in the sand Your presence is our promised land All we want and all we need Every breath in Your great plan Your presence, our promised land CHORUS Your presence is our promised land Is right here and it’s right now Not a place we have to travel Not a line drawn in the sand Your presence is our promised land All we want and all we need Every breath in Your great plan Your presence, our promised land OUTRO Your presence, our promised land Your presence, our promised land Oh yeah, your presence is our promised land
