The Isle of Skye was grey that day The ferry hummed a mournful sway I saw him standing by the rail A quiet storm, a wistful tale He didn’t speak, but neither did I We shared a silence, passing by His eyes were dark, but held the light I turned away... but not from sight I left with wind across the bay But something in me chose to stay A love untouched, but never drained A thread uncut, but still unclaimed Dark eyes, they held the sea All my longing, all of me I saw a future in that face The kind that time cannot erase I searched in crossings, winds, and skies In ferry lines and strangers’ eyes Still I dreamed of ocean spray And his silence slipping far away They say the tide forgets the shore But I remember more and more Each glance, each hush, each silent try Each time I whispered: “Dark Eye…” Dark eyes, they held the sea All my longing, all of me I turned to go, and let him lie But there he stood... beneath the sky And this time... He was looking for me
