You Don't Find What You Don't Seek (Remix)
Crazy fate that she was my girl. Dumb luckiest guy in the world. Hiding out, skipping school, just us two. Living life’s all we had to do. By the fall, she had worlds to explore. I had nothing I was looking toward. She left me with just one critique: Said, “You don’t find what you don’t seek.” Woke up, those words haunting my brain. Days of punching in just weren’t the same. Everywhere I heard the refrain. Discontent was my claim to fame. Didn’t know what to find or to seek. Proud to make Worthless Grunt of the Week. Asked my friends if there weren’t something more. They’d never asked themselves before. Hit the road seeking worlds that were new, still without much of a clue. Secure in just one thought, I hadn’t found what I hadn’t sought. I ate the globe halfway round, helping out where I could. Pretty proud that I found a chance I could do some good. Met the perfect someone. Knew this was the one. The new me now knew to go out pursue her. Kinda strange the way things turn around. We’re back in my old little town. Found work in a job that don’t suck. Found good friends not merely by luck. Years have passed, and I cannot deny, there’s not one day goes by I don’t think about those wise words That “I don’t find what I don’t seek” and thank her.
