[Intro] [Atmospheric synth pulse, distant vocal echoes, intimate whispered delivery] You said you wouldn’t call again… Funny how the night changes things. [Verse 1] It’s quarter past two and your name lights up Same old story, never had enough You say you’re lonely, say you’ve been thinking Funny how your clothes end up on my floor again You tell your friends that you’ve moved on But you know exactly where you belong I’m not the future, I’m not the one But I’m the number that you can’t outrun [Pre-Chorus] You say it’s wrong, but you pull me closer Say it’s the last time, then start all over We’re playing with fire, we know the stakes But you keep coming back for the heart you break [Chorus] I’m your favourite mistake The one that you make when you’re lonely The one that you crave When nobody else knows you like I know you You can swear that it’s over You can say that you’ll change But you always come running Back to your favourite mistake Your favourite mistake Your favourite mistake [Verse 2] I’m the secret that you never tell The little heaven in your private hell You wear your halo when the daylight comes But after midnight, I’m the one you want You leave your perfume on my sheets Then disappear into the morning streets You say I’m trouble, say I’m no good But you keep coming back like I knew you would [Pre-Chorus] You say it’s wrong, but you pull me closer Say it’s the last time, then start all over We’re playing with fire, we know the stakes But you keep coming back for the heart you break [Chorus] I’m your favourite mistake The one that you make when you’re lonely The one that you crave When nobody else knows you like I know you You can swear that it’s over You can say that you’ll change But you always come running Back to your favourite mistake Your favourite mistake Your favourite mistake [Bridge] [Beat drops out, vulnerable vocal, atmospheric piano and distant harmonies] Maybe I’m just scared to be More than your midnight memory Maybe I pretend I don’t care When I wish you’d want me everywhere But I know the rules, I know the game Tomorrow you’ll forget my name And I’ll be here, pretending I’m okay Waiting for you to make the same mistake [Final Chorus] [Explosive drums, layered vocals, soaring harmonies and bigger instrumentation] I’m your favourite mistake The one that you make when you’re lonely The one that you crave When nobody else knows you like I know you You can swear that it’s over You can say that you’ll change But you always come running Back to your favourite mistake I’m the kiss you can’t erase The beautiful mess you can’t escape You can run, you can hide But you know where I’ll be tonight Your favourite mistake! Your favourite mistake! [Outro] [Beat fades, whispered layered vocals, synth atmosphere] Your favourite… Your favourite mistake… You said you wouldn’t call again. I’ll see you tonight.
