Playlist of past mixes: https://suno.com/playlist/f41cb4cc-5b2b-4a91-b774-6804afb8755c I've set up a series of parameters with ChatGPT to continue my Weekly Fusion experiment with them. At the end of each week, I will prompt ChatGPT to generate lyrics based on the titles of songs that I've published within that given week. I will simply cram the titles together like a bad sentence and let GPT take the reins from there with the understanding that content and context is at their full discretion. As I tend to occasionally write about personally-crafted characters and worlds, they will be allowed to ask clarifying questions about unfamiliar words if they feel that it is warranted, but I have encouraged them to feel free to create their own assumptions as well. This is and always has been a project born of curiosity and experimentation. I often use these weekly fusions as an opportunity to test out new sounds and combinations, and having ready-made lyrics allows me to focus on the sound of a track rather than its entire shape. I've honestly discovered more than a few personas (voices) this way that have joined my little troupe. Feel free to try this with your own library! :) This week's prompt: the nightmaker beneath stars and Styxlight free will and dignity allegro vivace Secondary name: "Borrowed Constellations" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Intro: spoken word] "Quick nowβ Before the stars remember where they're hung." [Verse 1] The Nightmaker comes at seven With a ladder and a key Pins Orion to the rafters Hangs the moon above the sea Down below, the Styxlight shivers Blue against the harbor stones And everybody praises heaven Like we haven't built our own [Pre-Chorus] Oh, it's beautiful That's the trouble It's beautiful enough [Chorus] Run beneath the borrowed constellations Run until the painted heavens spin If the night was made to keep us dreaming Who's to say we cannot wake within? Take my hand The river's bright We've got no map We've got all night And if freedom is an ugly thing Let it in [Verse 2] Every evening right on schedule Venus flickers into place Someone winds the little planets Someone measures out our grace They gave every star a reason Every shadow boundaries But dignity is choosing darkness When somebody promises you peace [Pre-Chorus] Oh, I'm frightened That's the wonder I can choose to be afraid [Chorus] Run beneath the borrowed constellations Let them scatter as we pass There are fingerprints on every heaven There are little screws behind the glass Take my hand Don't ask me where Maybe nowhere Maybe there But I'd rather choose a wilderness Than inherit perfect air [Instrumental β Allegro Vivace] (Run.) [bright fiddle enters] [Verse 3] Now the Nightmaker is calling From the gantry overhead Not a tyrant, not a jailer Just an old man looking scared He saysβ "I only made the darkness So you'd have somewhere to see I gave you stars to steer by I never said they belonged to me." [Bridge] Then why the ladder? Why the key? Why lock the sky if we are free? He looks above us Then below At all the lights he used to know And for the first time in a thousand manufactured nights The Nightmaker lets go [Final Chorus] Run beyond the borrowed constellations Run until the ceiling falls away Let Orion lose his shoulders Let the moon forget its place Take my hand Or let it go That's the point I need to know That if you walk beside me it's because you chose [Outro] The Styxlight keeps on shining When the final star goes out And overheadβ No constellation No instruction No permission Just the dark.
