Going south Still further yet So many times I stand in line Brush my teeth and say I’m fine Circling round, outside, inside Often from me I try to hide The pain is there I cannot easily obscure So I awake again, and plea for more From East to West Up and down Left to right The real direction is out of sight Anxiety kills my entrance on the stage I lose myself in existential rage But back I come, the sun rises once more Passage repeated, revolving door To love; be loved; So simple it is Yet how often we feel it’s not quite right Boarding an unsteady ambiguous flight The wheels abruptly kiss the runway We dock, disembark, ask what not why So far we’ve returned through the sky Another journey, a different day
